Hi everyone and welcome to my Portable Solar Electricity website. For the last several years I have worked with solar power as part of job as a gate technician. Many gate and access control systems are remotely located and require solar power to function. Using solar daily gave me an appreciation for its usefulness, convenience, thriftiness and many other benefits.
Why is Alternate Power Important?
I live in west central Florida which is important to my story for a couple of reasons. First, my area, Tampa Bay, is the lightning capital of the United States! We experience more ground strikes than any other place in the country. Our electrical storms can be terrifying, and they cost Florida huge amounts of money in down time, property damage, and lost productivity.
In my job as a gate technician, from about May through September, the vast majority of the calls I would get were to repair a system damaged by lightning or its power surges.
Hurricanes and other severe storms are relatively common as well. Sometimes, usually in the summer, I fantasize about moving to a place with boring weather that is never an issue, except when someone talks about how boring it is! Where I live, the weather is often terrifying, and at the very least it can damage your property and ruin your day, week or month.
If there is one thing I've learned here through the years, it's that you must plan and prepare your own alternate power source and reduce your reliance on the power grid.
How Can I Help You?
There are many elderly people in my area who need good information and solutions when it comes to solar power. There are also many campers, RV'ers, hikers and others who are investing in solar systems they can take along on their excursions.
As with any big growth industry, there is a lot of information out there both good and bad and I want to place you turn to for honest opinions and best possible recommendations for whatever your solar power needs happen to be.
What Is My Goal?
Solar power is a huge topic and industry these days and there is a ton of information readily available. However, I want to focus on the portable aspect of solar for the camper, RV'er, and all off-grid enthusiasts looking to power his or her world. I understand that there are limits on the amount of gear you can haul around so that gear has to give the best possible bang for the buck.
When it comes to bringing your solar power system along with you, I want to help you find the best possible solution
I also want to provide solutions for the homeowner seeking backup protection from the loss of grid power so that for them, life can go on without so much of the lost time and money that normally occurs.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
